The start of another adventure.

Tomorrow we are starting out on a little adventure driving from NC to OR.  But, we aren’t going the easy way.  No four lane interstate highways for us.  If we are lucky we will hit a paved road once in awhile.  The TAT or transamtrail is a series of roads strung together to form a trail that runs nearly 5000 miles to the Pacific Ocean.  We will be driving the trail in our Toyota FJ Cruiser.  Most people do it on dual sport motorcycles.  I’ve made three attempts via motorcycle.

Today we drove down from home to the start of the trail in Andrews, NC.  We will start out in the morning after breakfast and hope to make about 250 miles by the end of the day.  Yep, 250 miles.  It is slow going.

Each day, I will post pictures and a map showing the route we took and little tidbits of information about our travels.  We hope to reach the west coast by the end of September.
